Why don't you try the library, and then if you have an old carpenter living in your neighborhood.....have him nail one together for you. Those kind of projects are just what an old nail bender likes to do in his shop during the winter........help him find some lumber that you would like, show him a picture and let him go to work. Enjoy the Holidays.

Unless one really knows what they have, looking on EBay will not really help. Most of the time a person does not have the exact coin in the grade that is listed or the person selling may have to high a value to begin with. There are really no sites to help you. If U.S. coins you can try a couple of coin dealers to see what they would offer. If world coins you need a world coin dealer for a U.S. dealer usually knows nothing about them and will not offer a fair value. To come up with a value the rarity of the coin, plus its grade determines its actual value. I do not have time for large lists but can help but need all the info. I can do a quick guide to grading also.

Are they US coins or from other places? They are not Antique unless they are 100 years old. Price would depend on condition as well as age and rarity. You need to take them to a good coin and stamp dealer to get the best evaluation of value. Most appraiser charge a fee for this service.

You should take the coins to a local coin dealer. They probably won't charge you an appraisal fee unless you have something special. You could find a local coin club and see if any of the members would help you determine a value.

Other wise get a copy of the "Red Book" from a local library and a copy of CoinValues from a bookstore. With these two items and a little practice you should be able to arrive at a reasonable ball park value. This of course only applies to US coins. Any other type of coins you should be able get a value from "World Coins" by Krause (again see the library).

There are valuation sites on the web but first you need to know how to grade a coin.

Have fun, this might be the start of a new hobby.

If you are just drinking water from the cups, I would say you are safe to do so. Acidic juices could dissolve the copper, and too much copper is not good for you. The grey metal is probably pewter, since this was a common material to make cups and other items from.
You could try the cleaning agents used on copper coins to remove the tarnish, but I don't think it would work very well since the coin collectors are interested in preserving the coin and not in removing the tarnish.
There are several products that will remove the tarnish, you just need to be careful and be ready to wash off any material you get on yourself. You can get some vinyl gloves to prevent the product from getting on your hands.

When the friend told the police after being pulled over with drugs that your cousin and girlfriend sold it to them and when the police pulled their record and saw prior charges for drugs was the "red flag" that set things in motion.

If your cousin and girlfriend were 70 years old, never had a ticket, did community service, then they would have most likely had not gotten a search warrant and this awful mess would not have occurred.

They need to hire a good criminal lawyer asap period. There is a reason that they state you have the right to not talk to the police and hire a lawyer. Police lie all the time and sometimes they "construe the truth" to their benefit.

If your cousins girlfriend does not want to lose seeing her daughter again, then have her talk to a criminal lawyer. It's not a guarantee she will win, but the lawyer can determine if what the police did was legal, or could get her sentence reduced or negotiate.

good luck

Cops are smarter than you think....yes most people have those things lying around the house but police know when someone's using them for other purposes. I'm sorry it doesn't look good. The cops breaking the things, sucks but that's what they do.
